On November 17, 1971 three acres of land at the corner of Baseline Road and 76th St. in Boulder, Colorado were purchased by the Southern Baptist Convention and Home Mission Board through the Longs Peak Association. The land was set aside for East Boulder Baptist Church (EBBC), a mission of Southern Hills Baptist Church in Boulder. Members of Southern Hills Baptist Church held a dedication service on Easter Sunday 1973, committing themselves to the mission. On May 5, 1974 Southern Hills Baptist Church asked an area missionary to serve as interim pastor, and the work began.
The first meeting of the church was a prayer service on April 3, 1974 at the nearby home of one of the sixteen former Southern Hills families that dedicated themselves to the task of building and supporting EBBC. Twenty-two people were present for the meeting. The first Sunday service was held April 7, 1974. That evening at a business meeting, the thirty-nine charter members in attendance voted to rent a nearby house for services while the church building was being constructed. The church called its first full-time pastor on June 19, 1974. EBBC constructed its current facility at Baseline and 76th St. and began using the building in July 1975.
The church has had four regular pastors since its founding, having welcomed its fourth, Larry Dramann, in 2001. The previous senior pastor, Allen Harrison, served for 17 years, from 1980 through 1997.
